What’s a healthy substitution for that? Today I am going to share 5 healthy food substitutions you can start incorporating now. Most of the substitutions shared here are an even swap.
Similar to what I said last week about supplements, start by swapping only a portion of your food choice with the healthier choice.
Healthy Food Substitutions
Bragg’s Amino Acids for Soy Sauce
This is where I started. When I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, one of the recommendations was to stay away from soy products.
I started using Bragg’s whenever a recipe called for soy sauce and I have never looked back.

Braggs makes a great marinade for steaks and flavors my favorite oriental dishes like Cauliflower Chicken Friend Rice.
Cauliflower Rice for Rice
First, I will say that some recipes are meant for rice. What I typically do here is sub ½ of the rice for cauliflower rice.
Upping your daily intake of veggies is such a great choice for your health and this substitution helps you increase your intake.

When I make chicken stir fry, I sub some of the rice for Cauliflower rice. Mashed Cauliflower Rice instead of potatoes are a healthy substitute.

Zoodles for Pasta
Preparing fresh zoodles using my spiralizer is a breeze. Just looking at the bright green zucchini spirals makes me feel healthy! I lightly saute’ them with a little olive oil and salt & pepper.
The first time I tried them, I loved them as a sub for pasta. Sometimes I will eat half zoodles and half gluten free pasta. Other times, I eat all zoodles.

Tip: Once you spiralize the zoodles, let them sit on a paper towel for a few minutes to absorbed some of the water.
Monkfruit for Sugar
I love this substitution. Other organic sweeteners I have tried don’t taste like sugar but monkfruit tastes like sugar and cooks/bakes like sugar!
It’s perfect in my afternoon tea!

Lettuce leaves, Corn or Low Carb Flour Tortillas for Regular Tortillas
Lettuce wraps are a great substitution for regular flour tortillas especially for tacos, tuna salad or BLT’s.

Corn tortillas are my second choice especially when I want something like shrimp tacos or fish tacos.
Low carb tortillas can be used for burritos, wraps, enchiladas.

I like the zucchini zoodles but unfortunately you can’t get them where I live in France. We found a tool to create twirls and that works as well as a pasta replacement.
Just curious, why can’t you get them in France??
Thanks,
Kim

I use cauliflower and noodles made from zucchini often. They are delish and so much better for you than the alternative.
