Feeling like a Princess with Soft Surroundings

Recently we took our family vacation in the Destin, Florida area.  A few days before we were scheduled to leave, a package arrived from Soft Surroundings (gifted).  I was so excited to open it that I forgot to video the package opening.  Inside was this gorgeous Soft Surroundings Swingtime Maxi Dress.

This is a sponsored post with Soft Surroundings. My opinions, photos and style are all my own.

First thing I noticed is the amazing color – Poinsettia.  The best way for me to describe it is a cross between red and salmon.  It is stunning with a gold zipper at the front, long sleeves and princess seams in the front and back.

The Swingtime Maxi is true to its name – totally twirl-worthy.  The soft hourglass silhouette hugs all your curves in the right places.  And the fabric – Ponte knit – is so smooth and flattering.  The dress is both stylish and sexy (in a good way).

Now, I am 5’2” and I was a bit worried about the length.  I am wearing a Petite Small and the dress is 50.5” long.  Perfect with or without shoes.  I kept my jewelry simple so that the dress is the star.

Talk about feeling like a princess.  The seams on the front and the back are responsible for that felling.  I did my fair share of twirling around and swinging the dress with my hands in the pockets.  The dress clings to my shape without being tight and accentuates my curves.  The pockets are a great addition.

Poolside

I wore the long sleeves pushed up and the photos were taken in WaterColor, Florida.  I was not hot nor uncomfortable in this dress in the Florida weather.  I could see myself pool side at a party with a cocktail in hand!  I will be wearing this dress into the fall.  I would wear this to dinner anytime – even in summer as restaurants tend to be cool.

On the Porch

Don’t you love it when Instafriends become real Friends?

When planning our trip, I reached out to Regan of Nifty50andFabulous.  I had seen in several of her posts that they had a house near Destin.  I asked her if she was going to be down there when we were and to my surprise, she said yes.  So we made plans to meet.

Me and Regan

When I first reached out, I didn’t think about the area she was in being a blogger’s photo paradise but she knew it was.  We talked about meeting and when she told me her house was in Watercolor, we decided we would leave early and take photos in the area before meeting at Regan’s.

Blogger’s Paradise

Regan had a different idea.  She asked me to send her photos of the outfits I was going to wear.  She loved them all and was intrigued by the Soft Surroundings dress.  She wanted to see it in real life before she decided on the best location – we also decided to meet at her house first.

Regan met us in the driveway and I knew in an instant we were friends.  We hugged and she hugged David – a true southern lady!  We chatted a bit, piled in the car and then got to photographing.  We talked and talked.  Regan was very helpful with locations, props and posing!

WATERCOLOR, FLORIDA

Such a beautiful area. The houses are so quaint with lots of character and shady streets.  WaterColor sits between Grayton Beach State Park and Seaside on 30A.  Regan’s home is a southern delight.  And the pool area was the ideal location to photograph the Maxi dress.  The color of the dress against the blues and greens of the pool area really makes it pop.  We did head out to some other areas to shoot some different outfits (those will come in a later blog post).

Feeling Fabulous

We had an amazing vacation.  Having the opportunity to meet Regan and photograph the Swingtime Maxi Dress poolside in WaterColor was the icing on the cake!  If you have an opportunity to meet your instafriends in real life, you will find that they are more amazing in person than you could ever imagine.
