To my Amazing Subscribers:

Pardon my recent absence – please let me explain why I have been so absent lately.  A few weeks ago, I posted about our side hustle – MicShaun’s Closet on Ebay.  Well, this business just took a new turn for us!

We have purchased a toy soldier manufacturing company out of California.  As I am typing this, our inventory is making its way across America to us via truck.  We are expanding our ecommerce presence by opening a Shopify Store, an Amazon store, and will be selling through Facebook as well.

SHOPIFY STORE WILL OPEN 12/15/18 AT www.micshaunscloset.com

We own steel molds for making the figures that are housed in a manufacturing facility in Hong Kong, China.  We had our first conversation with our contact there this week.  Very interesting.  He wants to assure us that he knows what he is doing, and that he will do a good job for us.  There is a bit of a language barrier, but he suggested the WhatsApp and we are exploring that option as an easier way to communicate with him.

We have been busy getting product loaded and making the Shopify site functional and “pretty”.   We finally decided that it was better to hire someone to do the store set up and we will just load in the product information.  This is a great relief for me as I am the computer person and my husband, David, is the hands on person, head shipper, and he answers most of the emails.

David is like a kid in a candy store.  He is so enjoying this and he is working really hard on answering questions and fulfilling orders.

We have been embraced by the “hobby” community as they call it.  We announced on Saturday, December 1st through our social media platforms and the response has been overwhelming and humbling.  I was not aware how much Facebook would help us, but I am now a firm believer.  I can post about some soldiers that we have available in the store and within a few minutes, they will sell.  We are learning about Facebook and believe that we can grow this business beyond our expectations.

Nick and DeAnna, the former owners, built an incredible following and will be sorely missed by the hobby community.  It is our pledge and nod to them that we do just as good a job as they did and treat each person that we encounter better than they expect.

Listen to the Universe!

Often, we miss the cues from the universe.  For as long as I can remember, David’s dream has been to own a hobby store.  When David told me Nick and DeAnna were selling their business, I asked him if he had given it any thought.  His response was “I don’t think it is in our realm of possibility”.  Later that same day, I said to him “don’t you think you owe it to yourself and to me to see if we can make this work”?  We reached out to them, the stars aligned, and the rest is history.

We had no idea that this was a possibility for us and we are beyond excited!

Dreams can come true

As for my blog, I am back.  I will begin to post again and get you all caught up on our story.  I will be sharing some great recipes and tips For A Good Life After 50.  Thank you for sticking with me!
