Recently I posted on Instagram that I have become complacent.  I truly have.  I have settled for my weight and my current body shape for over 3 years.  I am DONE.  I have a plan and a goal.  I am starting My Self Challenge!
For me, September has always been a good time to reassess and make some changes.  All of the changes I will be making are simple and easy for anyone to incorporate into their lives.

My Self Challenge

This Self Challenge will be taken in steps (baby steps) in the beginning and will ramp it up as I go along.  Taking it slowly will increase the potential for new habits to stick with me.  Ramping it up along the way will keep it fun and challenging.
Journey with me as I work to lose 15 pounds and reshape this midlife body.  Don’t misunderstand me, I am in awe of my body and the things I have accomplished since 2012.  I have completed eight half-marathons, a full Tough Mudder, a half Tough Mudder and their new 5k Mudder, two sprint Triathlons, Warrior Dash and numerous other 5k and 10k races.  I also started lifting weights, cycling, and doing hot yoga.  All things I did not envision myself doing prior to 2012.
I am stronger and wear a smaller size, but I am still not where I want to be.  I want to see (really see) muscles and abs.  I want true fat loss not just weight loss.

The Food Plan

Broccoli
So here is my food plan – I am going to watch my carbs.  I think that I am getting too many.  Hopefully that will make a difference.  I have downloaded the Carb Manager app on my phone and have started figuring out how it works.  I will really pay attention to what I am putting in my mouth that is not planned for.  I have gotten in the habit of eating things here and there thinking they won’t affect my goals, BUT THEY DO. So I will really work on my weekly plan and I will plan for some wine, something sweet and maybe a little bread.

Exercise Plan

  • Lift Heavy – 2 days per week for 30 minutes
  • Walk/Run – 2 days per week for 35 minutes
  • Hot Yoga – 1 day per week – 45 minutes
  • Exercise of choice – 1 day per week – no set amount of time

On September 17th, I am joining my sister in a Beachbody Challenge for their new Lift 4 program.  I will adjust the above at that time.
I will post here on the blog monthly about my progress, what’s working, what I am considering changing and any other helpful tips.  I will post periodically on Instagram too, about my progress.
Would love to have your comments on what you are doing to stay healthy in midlife!  Share your ideas on food or exercise you think I should try.

Wish me luck!!

Kim
