I was so delighted when I received a message from Loretta, asking me if I would like to be nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award – who would say no to that!
I can’t thank Loretta of Loretta’s Countdown to 60 Blog enough for nominating me. I have been following Loretta since she started blogging. She is an incredible storyteller and she has lived an interesting life.
I am a huge fan of her blog and have had the privilege of watching her midlife influence grow. As a “baby blogger” myself, I appreciate all the help I can get!
The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to bloggers by bloggers who create a positive environment for others by bringing sunshine to the blogging community and to the social media platforms, and let’s be honest, Sunshine is what we all need. For me, it is a fantastic way to support and encourage my fellow bloggers to keep blogging and get our midlife voice out there to be heard.
Below are the questions that Loretta asked that I share with you:
Why did you start your blog?
I wanted midlife women to know that they could have a good life after 50 by taking small, doable steps toward their goals. I wanted them to see me as someone just like them that is creating a good midlife by taking those small steps. I want to assure them that living a quality, healthy and inspiring life is totally within their reach.
How do you bring sunshine to your readers?
I learned something recently about myself that I suspected but was not quite sure if it was truly me. One of my core strengths is harmony. I truly believe that everyone has a voice and something important to say. At this point in our lives, that voice should be heard. Daily, I like to give words of encouragement and happiness to the people I interact with on social media. I want to lift people up.
What are 3 interesting things about you that your readers may not know?
- I have been married for 35 years this summer. My husband is my biggest cheerleader!
- My initials are KC and I have several friends who call me Sunshine after KC and the Sunshine Band!
- I have completed eight half-marathons, a Tough Mudder obstacle race and two sprint-triathlons
What is your favorite thing to do to relax?
Relax, what’s that??!! Seriously, we love to get outside in nature. We hike, bike and walk as much as possible. For some true relaxation, I love to cook while listening to music or a book. And there is the occasional binge-watching of Netflix or Amazon Prime.
Now for my nominees:
Fit Fab Forever Lifestyle Blog – I “met” Christie on Instagram. What caught my eye first was her amazing arms! Christie’s blog was one of the first I subscribed to. Her no nonsense approach to fitness and healthy lifestyle is a great read. She posts once a month and her blog is filled with how to’s, recipes and workouts.
Nifty 50 Fabulous – Regan is a southern girl, petite and curvy – all things I can identify with. She shares her love for fashion and all things about being 50! She does it with sophisticated southern charm and a smile!
Mel’s 2nd Act – Melanie is a good friend that I met on Instagram and had the pleasure of meeting face to face. She is new to blogging, but she runs our Midlife Blogging Community Group and does a great job of it. Mel’s blog is about midlife lifestyle – planning, goals, a bit of fashion and really, how to navigate midlife. She is also remodeling her home and shares that with her readers.
Blessings and Sass – I first met Annie and her daughter, in real life, at a blogging event here in Nashville. I was feeling like the oldest person in the room. I overheard her conversation and she was feeling the same way. We struck up a conversation and have stayed in touch since. Annie’s blog is about fashion and lifestyle.
