My Very First Fashion Blog Featuring a Few of my Favorite Things from Soft Surroundings

I find myself living two fashion lives – the somewhat conservative me that works in an office setting and the fun/fashionable/flirty me that loves to dress up for our date nights.  I also love to dress up for our  friend’s night out.

Luckily, I can find fashion to suit both of these personalities.  Soft Surroundings is one of the places I shop that makes accomplishing this really easy!

Some of the items in this post were gifted to me by Soft Surroundings.

Back in January 2018, I was introduced to the amazing Brand that is Soft Surroundings.  At the Influencers of Midlife Summit, Soft Surroundings hosted us at their shop at The Avalon in Atlanta.  We met after-hours for champagne, macaroons, shopping and learning.

I met Jessica and just fell in love with her personality and style.  She is part of the reason I am so attracted to this brand.

Outfit #1 – The Conversative Me

I love the color blue.  Pretty much all shades but royal and navy blue are my favorites.  I reached out to Soft Surroundings knowing that they would be opening a store here in Nashville in 2019.  They were kind enough to gift me with these amazing and oh so comfortable linen pants in blue, of course.

I have styled them with an amazing royal blue t-shirt and white linen jacket from my closet.  These navy wedges are a pair of my favorite shoes and they complete the outfit. I also work the outfit a bit differently one day – pairing it with a lace top and navy sweater from my closet.

Office Wear

What I love about these pants is the comfort and style.  The pants are not as lightweight as most linen so they resist wrinkles much better.  They have a wide elastic waist band that does not roll and fits comfortably.  When you walk, the pants have a nice flow and move with you.

The details – the white stripes are perfect for me.  As a petite (5’2”) woman, these linen pants are a good length and with the stripes, help to elongate my legs.  The wooden buttons on the side of the pants give them an extra special touch and make it easy to style them with some wooden jewelry pieces and a brown belt too!

Outfit #2 – The Fun/Fashionable/Flirty Me

When we were shopping in the store in Atlanta, I found four items that I fell in love with.  Two of them are featured in this outfit – the gorgeous top and the gold, sparkly earrings.

Below the train tracks

This is where my fun/fashionable/flirty side comes in.  I am attracted mostly to classics but I love lacy, blingy, unexpected pieces in my wardrobe too.

The top is a thin strapped tank overlayed with this beautiful mesh and lace top with sequins.  The color is a deep, rich rust color.  Not a color that I normally wear but it matches some of the highlights in my hair and thought, why not?!  I paired the top with a pair of plaid leggings from my closet and black suede kitten heels.  The leggings have the same color in them only slightly darker.  I have also topped this outfit with a black faux leather jacket for a more edgy look.

The train, the train!

The top is soft and comfortable.  It moves easily with you.  And, it has just the right touch of unexpected for this fashion forward girl!

Yay!

The earrings…ok, so it has been a minute since I wore gold earrings but these just spoke to me.  I felt like they were saying “pick me, please.  I will look dazzling on you”!  I think they were right.  Again, the gold compliments my highlights.  The earrings have just enough bling to them.

My friend, Angie @theagelessrebellion, told me that our clothes should speak to us and that when we touch them, we should feel emotion associated with them.  I am finding this to be very true for me.  I like clothes that make me feel comfortable, feminine and have just enough touch of the unexpected.  These two outfits certainly do that for me.
